What do we want from a smart home? More than anything else, we want it to be truly smart: adaptable to our daily needs, flexible enough to suit even the most dynamic lifestyles, capable of simplifying the most tedious and repetitive tasks and, above all, easy to control. As well as helping us save on bills and making everyday life more convenient, a smart home should, in fact, be intuitive and quick to manage – in other words, user-friendly.
It is based on this principle that we have revamped our app: officially launched on 17 April 2024, Freedompro Home not only allows you to manage all connected devices from a single interface, thus solving the annoying problem of having to switch between apps on your smartphone, but also to do so quickly and easily, with the added benefit of several additional features.
Freedompro Home: an app to manage everything, anywhere and at any time
As mentioned, the main advantage of Freedompro Home is that it offers the opportunity to manage and monitor devices connected to your home using a single interface: in fact, since both Smart Modules and Easykon operate directly on your home’s electrical system, there will no longer be any need to use products from different brands and their respective apps. Our app is all you need to keep them all under control!
In an even simpler and more intuitive way, you can pair each device in just a few clicks thanks to the wizard and organise your devices by favourites, categories and rooms. If you wish, you can also rename these rooms with a term that is more practical and familiar to you, perhaps to define entire areas of the home such as the living area. A couple of examples? “Rooms” or “Groups”, much appreciated by Alexa users.
However, the super user-friendly interface isn’t the only thing the new Freedompro Home app offers you: you also have the option to monitor in real time – that is, completely live! – the total energy consumption of your smart home and even that of every single device (soon, you’ll be able to use this feature to trigger specific automations too, but we’ll talk about that another time), so you can always keep an eye on your energy bills, switch off devices left on unnecessarily, and make your home more sustainable from both an environmental and economic perspective.
And then there are Habits which, with Freedompro Home, redefine the concept of automation: even smarter, even more practical, even more tailored to your needs.
Habits: shape your smart home around your habits!
With the Habits feature available on the Freedompro Home app, your smart home adapts to your daily habits or even improves them, allowing you to save time on various tasks and making everyday life more comfortable and simple.
Thanks to a scalable and extremely powerful scenario engine, set to soon integrate even more specific and advanced automations, you can use the app both to change the status of your devices (turning a light on or off, or raising and lowering the shutters) and to create actual “chains of habits”.
Imagine, for example, setting up this Habit: from Monday to Friday, at seven in the morning, the shutters open automatically and the kitchen lights come on. That’s your Habit number 1. Now imagine creating a second one: once Habit 1 is complete, the coffee machine switches on and heats up, getting ready for your first espresso of the day.
Not enough? Grandad needs to get up in the night to go to the loo. To reduce the risk of him tripping in the dark, you can create a simple Habit: from 10.00 pm to 7.00 am every day, when the bedside lamp in his room is switched on, the sequence of events ensures that the lights in the hallway and bathroom are also automatically switched on.
Another example? When you switch off the hall lights at ten o’clock in the evening, the shutters on the house come down. And since your little one can’t fall asleep if his room is completely dark, his bedside lamp will switch off automatically only after fifteen minutes – a reasonable amount of time to start dreaming!
You can therefore not only set up Habits with events that occur simultaneously, but also delay specific events relative to others simply by adding a delay between them. The only requirement for creating these Habits is that all the devices involved are, of course, connected to Freedompro devices, whether they are Smart Modules or Easykon.
Otherwise, the process is really very simple: you simply need to define the elements that make up your Habit, starting with the event you want to occur (i.e. the goal of your habit, such as a good morning greeting, a goodnight wish, or checking that grandad is safe), and then create a sequence of events to be triggered manually or automatically. In the latter case, simply add the trigger conditions we outlined earlier. And if you want to be even more certain that your smart home is behaving as it should, you can even receive a notification that your Habit has been performed correctly!
